Southeast Asian Ethereum communities unite!

At Devcon7 in Bangkok, the Southeast Asian Ethereum community made its presence felt through the ETH SEA Hub—a collaborative space led by ETH63 and supported by neighboring communities like ETHKL, ETHSG, ETH Vietnam, ETH Indonesia, and Web3Together of Cambodia. More than just a hub, it was a testament to the growing influence of Southeast Asia in the global Ethereum landscape, with Filipinos playing a key role in shaping the region’s blockchain ecosystem.

The ETH SEA Hub: A Celebration of Collaboration

Located in the heart of Devcon7 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, the ETH SEA Hub became a central point for engagement, learning, and networking among builders from different countries. It showcased not just individual communities but also the collaborative spirit that defines the Ethereum movement in Southeast Asia.

Notable Highlights:

1
Dedicated Meetups for Each Country: Every SEA community had an hour to introduce their builders, projects, and initiatives, fostering deeper regional connections.
2
Interactive Map of ETH SEA Communities: A visual display that mapped out the Ethereum ecosystem across the region, highlighting key initiatives.
3
‘Trust-ful’ Voting on the Best SEA Destination: A fun, public voting experience that engaged attendees and showcased the playful side of SEA.
3
Anon Corner: A unique space where attendees could freely write ideas, messages, and interact anonymously.

Among the standout moments at the ETH SEA Hub was the Filipino Builders Meetup on November 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Held at CH16, this gathering brought together Filipino builders—both technical and non-technical—to connect, collaborate, and reinforce the Philippines’ contributions to Ethereum.

Southeast Asia is where Ethereum meets the real world—driving adoption, innovation, and thriving communities.

Why This Meetup Mattered:

  • Networking with SEA and Global Builders: The event provided a chance for Filipinos to meet with key players from other communities, opening doors for future partnerships and collaborations.
  • Showcasing Filipino-Led Innovations: From DeFi projects to Layer 2 solutions, Filipino builders had the opportunity to highlight their work on an international stage.
  • Growing the PH Web3 Community: This meetup strengthened ties between developers, entrepreneurs, and Ethereum advocates, further solidifying the Philippines’ role in the larger ecosystem.

As Devcon7 came to a close, one thing was clear: Filipinos are not just participants in the global Ethereum space—they are active builders, innovators, and leaders pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

With the momentum built from this event, the challenge now is to continue strengthening our presence, expanding our impact, and ensuring that the Philippines remains a force in the global Ethereum ecosystem. BUIDL on!
